Madeline Bywater, DNP, CRNA

Madeline is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist currently practicing with Sound Physicians in the Portland, Oregon area. Her path into anesthesia began at the bedside, after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Portland School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse in acute and critical care settings, including cardiovascular intensive care at PeaceHealth in Washington State. That time in the CVICU gave her a first-hand, working understanding of hemodynamics, ventilator management, and the physiology of critically ill patients, the exact foundation anesthesia providers draw on every day in the operating room.

Madeline went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, one of the nation's respected nurse anesthesia programs. Along the way, she also served as an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Portland School of Nursing, teaching pharmacology, pathophysiology, and medical-surgical nursing to undergraduate students, experience that reflects both her clinical depth and her ability to communicate clearly under pressure.

That combination of critical care depth, doctoral-level anesthesia training, and teaching experience is what Madeline brings to every case: meticulous preparation, clear communication with surgical and nursing teams, and steady, patient-centered care from pre-op through recovery.
